In 2012, Mitch Januszewski, consultant in the pharmaceutical regulatory field, learned about a young boy in Tucson, Arizona, who was battling neuroblastoma. As it was a particularly complicated case, there was only one specialist who would agree to take the case.
Unfortunately, that specialist was in Philadelphia, and the young boy was unable to fly on a commercial flight due to his condition.
As a private pilot for many years with his own airplane, Mitch saw an opportunity to make a difference. He flew the young boy to Philadelphia for evaluation and back again for a successful surgery.
It was this life-changing moment that gave Mitch the idea for Spirit Air.
